How did you find the 2022 Finance Conference overall?

The Finance Conference was great. It was great to be able to network with other Councils to share ideas and knowledge.

What was your favourite session at the conference?

There were so many great sessions at the conference! My favourite sessions were probably the LG Solutions Presentation, IPART update and the Rebuilding Council to Deliver for the Community. They were very informative and interesting and led to many discussions with other Council’s to share ideas and thoughts.

What is a key learning from the conference that you will take back to your role at council?

The knowledge I will take back to Council are the tools available and skills required to Councils to improve the efficiencies and effectiveness of Council’s finance function and how to ensure financial sustainability.

Did you attend the networking dinners, how did you find them?

I attended the networking dinners. The 20’s themed dinner was a great night and was so good to see everyone getting into it. It was great to meet people from different Council’s to share ideas and was great to meet the suppliers to know what services are out there to assist with Council operations.

What would you say to a member who is thinking about applying for the Dick Cahill Memorial Scholarship in 2023?

I would recommend applying for the Dick Cahill Memorial Scholarship as the Finance Conference is a great event to attend to expand your knowledge in local government and to be able to network with other Councils to share ideas which can then be bought back to your own Council.

What do you enjoy most about your membership with LG Professionals, NSW?

Having a membership with LG Professionals, NSW is great as it provides continuous development in the Local Government sector through their discounted training programs and events.
