Penrith City Council - Thursday Night Live Lockdown Series

Penrith City Council - Thursday Night Live Lockdown Series
LG Awards Winner Series - Penrith City Council - Thursday Night Live Lockdown Series

Thursday Night Live – Lockdown Series launched on 9th April 2020 just as the economic and social impact of COVID-19 restrictions for live performances and gatherings of people were starting to be felt by our region’s artists and community.

The weekly one-hour livestream music event featured local performers playing live from a Penrith based studio to deliver a quality, safe entertainment experience at home. The purpose was to provide support, employment and live engagement for the community to connect whilst advocating for local business and community services. It was extremely effective for Council and the public to show support for local musicians and producers at a difficult time and contribute to a positive impact on the health, wealth and recovery of our community.

The program commenced as a 6-week pilot program and due to popularity continued for 12 consecutive weeks. Thursday Night Live was a huge success with more than 50,000 performance views across the series and people tuning in from all over the world to connect and enjoy live music during the lockdown period. The quick response and action from Penrith City Council to deliver homegrown content online built a loyal and enthusiastic audience base that continued to tune in for three months.
