The recent challenges NSW councils have had to face in the past year: bushfires, floods and now COVID 19, have put an enormous strain on resources. Every department has had to trim expenses and make changes in response, to remain viable and productive. Changes often see team members taking on additional roles and responsibilities, working autonomously and flexibly as work priorities change. The training and development of staff is often put to the side, due to the time and expense, leaving employees to take initiative, even when they may not feel they are equipped to do so.
LG Professionals NSW, has created several short courses, designed to develop key skills so employees can continue to grow professionally, while minimising the expenses associated with training.
The online modules are interactive, and participant numbers capped to allow interaction with the facilitator. Modules will require pre work to be completed, to develop and enhance the ability to work autonomously and gain the most out of the short sessions. Courses include online handout material for participants, and post course inspirations to foster a culture of continued development. As this is training delivered online, participants will be engaging with other council employees from around the state, and sharing ideas and thoughts to improve their department, not watching passively as a passenger of the course.
Courses will be for a maximum 3-hour duration and participants will need to have access to a laptop or computer with a microphone, webcam, and be connected to the internet, as they will be interacting with other participants.
